Samhain Tarot Blog Hop… Speak to me of Love…

PREVIOUS BLOG|MASTER LIST|NEXT BLOG

Greetings! 🙂 So where did you come from?

Lynda Hardy ~ The Cauldron Born?

Alison Cross ~ This Game of Thrones?

Olivia Destrades ~ First Earth Tarot?

Well…

According to the incurable old romantic that is my husband…

Love is…

The feeling a man has for his Gibson…

Bless him…

Though you’ve got to admit, it’s not that easy to define…

Poets and Musicians wax lyrical about the ecstatic highs and desperate lows… Artists try to catch its many colours… Scientists pass it off as a chemical trick played on the brain to perpetuate the species… Philosophers…well they talk and talk and then talk some more… And the Mathematicians still fail to find the solution…

An equation for love?

An equation for love?

So… I turned to my cards to see if they could throw up a formula…

I paused to consider which deck to use… My first love…The Elemental? My latest squeeze…The Wild Unknown?

No… It can be only one… My one true love… The deck  I love like I love no other…

Yup! It’s over to M 😀 Oh! M… Speak to me of love!

So this is what my M threw down… and yeah… I could write at length as to what those cards mean but I also love to play this little game… So… I popped over here… What muse amuses a muse?  and substituted the word lyric for poem… And this is where I landed… Empedocles… which amused me greatly, particularly this sentence…

The four elements are eternally brought into union, and eternally parted from each other, by two divine powers, Love and Strife.

And I thought…mmmm…. that’s very interesting and very tarot… but it also throws up a tale from a Saturday night probably about 15 years ago…

So… at that time, I was mostly a band widow… And my tolerances for the excesses of the Rock ‘n’ Roll lifestyle would wear pretty thin when Mr S would Roll in at ungodly hours, Rock my peace and annoy the hell out of me, for reasons which I now no longer recall… So… this particular night, we had gotten into a massive argument and he flounces off upstairs declaring that he was leaving me!

I remember thinking… Oh yeah? Promises, promises… and muttering under my breath… yeah well… I’m keeping the cats and the car…

I went to put the kettle on thinking – Oh… He’ll just crash out… the kettle started to boil… he reappeared downstairs with 2 packed suitcases and stood in the middle of the living room and said –

Right! I’m off!

I said –  Excuse me? Not with my bloody suitcases you’re not! Get your own…

He said – These are the only ones we’ve got, I’ll return them!

Now what I said next turned the air a spectacular shade of blue, whilst the contents of the suitcases were flung up the street, followed by Mr S being punted out the door… Then  as a final parting shot, a roll of black bin liners bounced of his head…

Here! Use these to pack!

So for the second time, I head for the kettle… Then there is a knock at the door…

Karen? Karen? Let me in… I’ve got nowhere to go…

But you’re leaving me…

I don’t want to leave you, I want to come home…

So… what are we going to do?

Shall we start by promising to try to be nicer to each other?

Yeah… that’s a start…

So… for the third time, the kettle goes on and this time we sit and make a pact to stick together and not inflict our particularly peculiar brands of mutually compatible insanity on to any other living souls…

So… I guess you could say we stumbled into Empedocles cosmic cycle and decided  to balance our Love and Strife to keep all our elements together…

I asked Mr S again the other day…

What is love?

He said… It’s you learning not to talk through Star Trek…

I said… Mmmmm… or maybe  it’s…

counting all your good points, whilst resisting  the urge to bounce things off your head…

5 of wands treasure

Let me count the ways I Love You…

😀

Right!

You can grab your bags and get out…

Here!

Here!

Here!

Lets hear a big Woo HOO for Ruby Woo

I think I’m going to have to start of with a shame faced confession… Anybody who knows me, will know that my usual rate of getting things done is pretty damn quick and if I say I’ll get back to you soon… well my soon, is what most people call now…

So… It has come as quite a big surprise for me, that I’ve had this  blog post sitting on the back burner for such a long time… and it has caused me a few blushes, as I promised so long ago to write it… and every time I’ve crossed paths with this lady, I’ve had to say… Oh… I promise you, I’ve not forgotten… but you got shuffled in my play list… so… without further ado…

Let’s put our hands to gather and give a warm welcome to my next guest…

One of Leicester’s most loveliest of lovelies…

The Most Gorgeous… Delightfully Delicious… The Goddess of Glitter…

MISS…… RUBY WOO!!!

Miss Ruby Woo is a Leicester based Curvy Cutie known for her fusion of Cheesecake style, love of Musical Theatre and fair amount of Glitter. Also known for her freelance choreography made her debut with the Bijoux Belles Leicester in the summer of 2010 and then went onto becoming a regular performer with the Demon Belles burlesque society in 2011. Since her beginning Ruby has grown as a burlesque performer and even ventured out into the world of organising events with the 3BurlyGirls.

So… yes… I have bumped into Miss Ruby Woo, several times out and about … So… as well as bumping into each other… I think 3 times now at charity events that Ruby and her friends have expertly organised…we’ve crossed paths at ArtShark… and a few other places…
And generally we are both pretty busy and only have enough time to have a quick chat to admire one another’s sequins and glittery sparkly things… and so it came to pass that on one such occasion, we had a conversation that went something like this…
Oooh… I’d love to get a reading but I never get time to stop and sit…
Oooh…. Don’t worry… I’ll blog you one…
So… I saw Ruby a couple of days ago and I said… OK…. I honestly have done your reading and it’s sitting in draft… I just can’t seem to find a punchline to pull it all together… So… she laughed at me and suggested that maybe all the glitter has gone to my head! and why don’t I draw her picture instead…? I said… We’ll see what happens…
So… of course… in true tarot fashion… once you decide to let go of something… it decides to come to you…
Ruby Woo had sent me this…
A couple of questions: I would like to know what you and the cards or crystals or anything you want to use have to say about me as a performer? And what can be said about the 3BurlyGirls?
So let’s see who came to share the stage… What do my cast of runes and characters from  Mystereum have to tell…?
Well… this all feels very good and quite exciting to me… there’s just so much creative energy around! On a personal level – what are you holding back from? Dig deep down into what really makes you want to shake your tail feather and bring all that classy sassy out to play!
Unleash your X-factor and make some sparks fly with the illusive star quality that you have within. I don’t feel that I have much to tell you here, that you don’t already know… I would say that you excel at putting ideas into action and that you are very capable of moving into any new areas that you wish to… I would maybe suggest applying some intense focus to any ideas that you have that are in early stages and thinking about exactly how far you can push and extend them, as there seems to be good scope for taking things quite a distance…
When it comes to the 3 Burly Girls… I’m looking at those 6s in there and it’s tipping me into a bit of tarot maths… as instead of 6… I see 3! as in 3 x 2 x 1 … So… look at the permutations and combinations that are available…with each of you as a solo performer, the number of ways you can pair into 2s and also last but not least, as a trio…
It feels to be that things are a lot further along than you may have realised or appreciated and that many obstacles have been overcome, the key point being the teamwork and how you interact with each other… there feels to be heartfelt honesty in how you communicate and also a good intuitive grasp of what is needed to make things work and pull together. And speaking of intuition… I kinda get an image of lots of to-ing and fro-ing over water… either frequent ferry crossings? or maybe a cruise ship? It seems very evident that you all love what you are doing and to just stick with it… The Pazzazz is there!
When I look at the Runes… they reiterate the travel aspect, also there seems to be big dose of good luck coming into play – new connections and surprise links… so pay attention to those chance encounters, they may well lead to useful directions (and in a stage whisper… I’m going to say… ‘Voice’…. who uses their voice? what are your connections with singers/vocalists/choirs…?)
So… expect the unexpected! But also… PLAN for it!! Sort out your finances and any extra cash you have, STASH it! Get yourself a lump sum that’s ready to go… make sure you don’t miss out on an offer that is too good to miss… Stay vigilant with the £££… you’ll need that as well as your passport…
But… I’m looking at those cards… and I still feel something is missing… mmmm…. what could it be?
I’m looking at those sixes… two of them… yet the imp in me says that for devilish delights you really should have 3…
So… I grab my next nearest deck… The Whimsical Tarot… and what do I see…
Ha! Now I have 666…
rubywoo

The Great Eleven/Eight Debate…

Strength/ Justice … Justice/Strength…

Which comes first? The chicken or the egg…

So… I’ve heard many talk on the subject and verbal tennis doesn’t get me far, as I have an impish streak about a mile wide and when I hear such conversations, I want to sing… You say potato… I say SPUD! 😀

But… that doesn’t mean that the topic is not of interest to me… so…

Mmmmmm…. 8/11…11/8….

This sounds like Tarot Maths… I’m off to visit my favourite place for musing…

Into Mystereum…

Let’s go pester The Hermit…

(c) Jordan Hoggard 2010

Hey Hermit!! 8/11… 11/8… what do you think?

The Hermit said to me…. Shhhhh child! Sit still and let me contemplate…

Mmmmm…. Now that’s very interesting… I look  back to what comes before me and I hear…

Mirror Mirror on the wall

Who is the fairest of them all?

And yes Justice… it could be said that none are fairer than you…

But you ask me to look into the mirror…

And there I see a deeper reflection…

XIIX.jpg

I see back to the future…

And the true core of what I will become…

I said …. Yes… But Hermit… What does that mean? Should it be 8/11 or 11/8…?

He said… Have you got nothing better to do than ask me questions all day?

Please…

Go work it out for yourself…

😀

Mystereum Musings on Tarot Maths…

I often wonder in wander and vice versa through Mystereum…

And one of the things that sends me spiraling out in mental fractals is the way the images in the cards move around for me…

And characters will effortlessly slide from one place to another to invent new images for me…

Such as this latest one…

So… I start with these…

And in my mind they combine to this…

The Cosmic Connector...

The Cosmic Connector…

Though, that doesn’t quite do it justice, as In my head My Magician moves… He plays drums, a bit  like Tommy Lee on that Roller coaster 360… but he also rolls around with the two High Priestesses… a bit like this…

So where does my Tarot Maths come in…

Well it seems to me, that in Mystereum… you get a lot of cards…

You start with 78…

Then they start to pair up and that brings another 3003…

Then trios… Sometimes they’re like 3 Musketeers and became all for one!… that brings another… ooooh….. 76076…

And it’s way too late an hour for me to rattle through anymore numbers but I guess you’re spotting the trend…

That’s a lot of bang for your buck!

And also… why no two readings are ever the same… well probably… though statistically… you’ll repeat one eventually… but you’re gonna have to live for a very long time… almost until… ∞

How do you learn to read Tarot?

How do you learn to read Tarot?

That’s a question I get asked all the time… and my answer … Throw your LWB away…

And that never seems to go down well… and then the next question is…

But how will I know what the cards mean?

Look at them….? Have you tried that…?

Then the next question… What? What do you mean? How do YOU do it?

And from what I’m gathering, a lot of professional readers get this same question…

again.. and again…. and… again…

Which puzzles me really, as the sticky point seems to be with the look at the pictures…

Yet… why is that such a big scary idea to grasp?

When we first teach our children to read, we give them picture books… not lengthy rambles of words…No… we give them… big, bold, colourful picture books… and they pick them up and they talk and they tell whatever story they want to tell… and usually very loudly and with much gusto and over and over again with no respect for time or place! Just a running commentary of words and noises and laughter and finger pointing…

So maybe the real question is not how do you learn to read, but how do you remember to see?

So… with those thoughts rolling round my mind, I drifted into my garden with my camera and wandered around until I took a snapshot that resonated for me…

So… How do I read? Oh… lots of ways… but today… this was my way…

What do you see?

What do you see?

So… this is what caught my eye… and then in my mind, cards started to roll out… so… it went… to Mystereum… Ace of Pentacles… oh… and a 10 of Pents vibe… oh… look… it has a whiff of 5 of Cups… and oh… what’s that one? Mmmmm…. Deck change…. Osho Zen… 8 of Water…

So I walked inside and sat down and got out the two decks and I laid those cards down like a story board… and I thought mmm… Interesting flip with the change of deck… I wonder what that reflects? So… I got out the corresponding cards from both decks… and added my second line to the story board… But as it is a reflection… I placed those in reverse…. So… 8 of Cups, 5 of Water, 10 of Rainbows, Ace of Rainbows… Like so…

IMG_0858

Story board reflections…

So… that is one of the ways I read… And the question was HOW rather than WHAT do I read…

So… I’m going to take a lesson from Osho Zen here… and let you find your own lesson…

What is the story you see?

But… before I leave you… I will offer up the advice I further found in my garden…

My spidey senses are tingling...

My spidey senses are tingling…

Ah… Grasshopper! Be aware of the fundamental interconnectedness of all things… and be sure…

that whichever path you are on…

you are on the right path for you…

😀

Smell ya later! 😉 x

Psssst… hey introvert… over here… a heads up on surviving social media…

So… recently, I was at the Friendly Friday and Enterprise Club . I’d been asked to deliver a short talk on some of the ways I generate marketing ideas… Which was all well and good… But what really sparked my interest, was a question that someone asked me later on… Forgive me if I don’t quote word for word… but it went something like this…

Help me! I’m an introvert! I can’t cope with all this social media and networking… How do I make it work for me?

Which I did find a little bit amusing, as I didn’t know this introvert, but they’d made an effort to speak to me… so, I sat down to chat…

Firstly because all KUDOS to my new introvert friend for taking a little leap of faith…

Secondly… I’m bloody nosy! 😀 and I want to know what introverts think… In a room full of people, they are often sitting quietly whilst the extroverts talk… But… you know… I probably shouldn’t say this… but not every one who can talk has something interesting to say…

Now, if you can get an introvert to talk… they more often than not have lots of interesting things to say. All that time they are sitting there quietly, they are thinking, analysing, contemplating, noticing what’s going on, evaluating and assessing… and these are all key skills when it comes to marketing ideas… So it seems to me, that the introverts have actually got a pretty big asset if they know how to play it…

Unfortunately, time was short, but we managed to get through some key points… See… I think social media is a great tool for introverts, it allows them to approach people who they may not have approached in a face to face situation… you can sit back and watch how people interact and join in at a pace that suits you…

Anyway… I was so interested by the question, that when I got home, I did what a Tarot reader does, and got out my cards…

I'm an introvert... get me outta here...

I’m an introvert… get me outta here… (cards – Tarot in The Land of Mystereum by Jordan Hoggard (c) 2010)

So introvert… you feel a bit awkward and out of place? Guess what? Most people do at some time or another… don’t assume that appearances are everything… not everybody who is good at talking, is as comfortable with it as you think. Admittedly it comes more naturally to some than others but it’s like any other skill, and if you want to do it well, then it requires time and practice… You have to learn to put your ‘work face’ on. I’m always amazed by the number of times I’ve read about performers who have been going for years, who suffer from massive attacks of stage fright… But they go on anyway… and when they deliver, no-one has faintest idea that half an hour ago back stage, they were a nervous wreck… But I’ve gone slightly off question there…

So how do you make social media work?

Well… it’s pretty much about doing and sharing what you love! When you are passionate about something, those nerves are going to sooner or later have to take a back seat… Because when you truly have a bug for something… you’re gonna do it anyway eventually, one way or another… because it’s an itch you just have to scratch!

So… make it easy for yourself… Keep your eyes and ears open and seek out other people whose work you really feel inspired by… It’s far easier to start a conversation with – Hey, I noticed you write about such and such, you made a really interesting point, I wonder what your views are on this…

And that generally works… I’ve had a couple of notable exceptions where my little voice has rolled like a windblown tumble weed into the cyber void… But meh? so what? no worries… no-one died 😀

But mostly, I’ve met some great people to share ideas with…

Speaking of which… there’s a little bit of coincidence, that fills my little tarot heart with glee… My very good eFriend Jordan Hoggard wrote a lovely blog piece … which I will share with you at the end…

Because… I firmly believe that one of the best ways to make your social media work, is to share other people’s work you enjoy…

And I think there is way too much noise and shouting on social media, along the lines of Look at ME ME ME

Which I think our introvert friends can never be accused of as they do avoid the ME ME ME…

But… to avoid slipping into the eVoid…

Maybe try out the I… I… I… I

And share…

Intelligent, Informative, Inspiring Information…

Speaking of which…. check out… Jordan’s post…

And if you like it… pass it on… 😉

She Walks in the Wind…

So… it seems like forever since I last wrote here… And in actual fact it’s not that long, just that I’ve been busy with quite a few new ideas… One of which is a group I joined – Hawk’s Art Projects, where there are a few things going on… the common theme being drawing by divination…
Image
Ok… so I thought I would have a go at the patron project… and this is what came out, which is not really what I intended… I drew what I originally intended then at the point where maybe I should have put it aside as finished, I tried something new and learnt a couple of things… so it would seem that pastels don’t mix well with a couple of things… if you’re gonna try something new… maybe best to try a test patch rather than go for a final flourish…  But my disaster turned to happy accident, as I tried to rescue my picture and then something happened that I didn’t expect… I didn’t draw back in the original, something new appeared…
So… I’ll tell you who this is… You know, I don’t really know who she is… She’s been with me very many times… and always at the times when I have felt most sad and life has seemed full of turmoil… I go out and I walk… just walk… any direction… just walk and walk and she appears behind me and she is about six and half feet tall and she matches me stride for stride and I never see her face, but I know she is there and I know her dress flows behind and her hair rides wild and free… And I’ve asked her many times – who are you? And she says – you don’t need to know my name child, just that I am always here… And so, I call her – She Walks in the Wind, as when she comes, so does the wind and it circles about us both and catches my worries and blows them away and both of us stride one step in front of the other as hair is caught and swept up high and trails and whirls…
So today… I sit to draw and I draw what I’ve sensed behind me so many times… and I lose that picture… and in the one that returns, I see for the first time… The tunnels of colours that she lays out before me to stride through…

The Golden World of Samuel DM…

Now… I have been accused of this very many times… so… I think  it is fair to say that…

With the gab, I have been gifted 😀

Though every so often, I meet someone who resolutely refuses to succumb to my patter… and that is how I met Sam… I was most determined to talk him out of his size 9 golden wellington boots  that he was wearing, even though they would be  2 sizes too big… I tried to convince him that I would provide a most excellent home for them… But he resisted all my charms!

So… In an attempt to distract him from his work and prolong our chat further… I invited him over for a Speed Read… hoping that he might be persuaded to change his mind about those wellies…

Spead read with Sam

So… our talk turned to Tarot and it would appear that Sam has some interesting times ahead… Take a peep in the corner… you can see that World card there…

XXI The World (c) Jordan Hoggard 2010

XXI The World
(c) Jordan Hoggard 2010

So… just as things were getting interesting… Sam had to get back to work… and I had to watch him walk away and I laughed and called after him ~ Hey! You’re walking in golden boots into a golden future!

But… I wasn’t going to let him escape that easily, so I invited him to send me a question and I would continue his reading on my blog…

Now that’s where I really did shoot myself in the foot… I often read to people who have never had a reading before and they will say – Do I need to ask you a question? Can I ask you any question on anything at all?

And I will say – you don’t have to ask me a question, though if you have one, then ask away… and yes… anything… anything except for sport!

So… yeah! You guessed it Sam sent me a Sports question…

Now, as I said, I’m not the biggest sports fan but I’m lucky in that I have a good team in Mystereum to help me out…

I took a run through my deck to see if it could offer up a strategy for peak performance…

My cards told me that the key to competing at your highest level lies in mental preparation…

Ace of Cups, Page of Wands, Ace of Swords, Magician, Queen of Cups (c) Jordan Hoggard 2010

Ace of Cups, Page of Wands, Ace of Swords, Magician, Queen of Cups
(c) Jordan Hoggard 2010

So… my squad offered up  5 points for Sam to focus on…

1. Confidence in your skills

The Ace of Cups says… Trust your ideas Sam! Visualise! Recall all those times you’ve taken first place and raised the winner’s trophy! Repeat after me… I AM NUMBER ONE!

2. Prepare to cope with setbacks

The Page of Wands says… it may well be a cliche… but it still holds true… When the going gets tough the tough get going! Don’t get dismayed if you feel as though things are not moving quick enough… dig deep within your inner reserves to find where your strengths lay… Remember the reasons why you originally chose to take this path… What makes you feel strongly grounded and connected to your goals?

3. Immerse fully into the role of the athlete

The Ace of Swords says… Ha ha!! Cut to the chase my friend! Master steely determination! Know that pressure serves to add to your performance!

4. Focus on execution

The Magician says… Oh.. you wanna talk focus? Hey! You came to the right guy! I’m numero uno when it comes to intense focus! I move with such flow that I appear to defy the very laws of Physics… My secret… I can see all around me without moving my head… I’m firmly fixed on that finishing line and I feel exactly where the competition is… but I don’t miss a beat… POOF! GONE!!

5. Fine polish and commit to a game plan

The Queen of Cups says… Sam my son, it all comes down to visualising and feeling into your emotions… Know that you were born gifted to do this… As the Ace of Cups asks you to recall the past, I ask you to peer into the future… look now to next Summer and the Summers thereafter… Where will you be? See your arms held high as you cross the line… And what is that…that I see? That yellow disk being welcomed into my arms… Could it be a gold medal?

So… even though Sam still won’t give me his golden boots… I still predict a golden future…

And if you’d like to see more of Sam… you can find him here… on facebook… or over at his website…

Go give him a follow… though not in a stalker way! 😀
