Unfinished business…

Today, Lyn Thurman posed an interesting question…

Death, or at least little deaths, happen continuously.  The world is in a constant state of movement, going from beginnings to endings in the cycle of life.

Write about unfinished business you have.  Is it time you buried it or resurrected it?

See… that’s interesting for me as generally most of the work I do, I consider to be work in progress and expect it to constantly evolve and shift and change… and as such, I find that it goes in cycles and phases… and often some things need to lie dormant and untouched for a while… to come and go like the seasons…

There are very few things that I consider to be completely finished but the few things that I do consider to be done and dusted… well those are things that I’ve actively decided to rip out of my mental garden to send to R.I.P.

I’m very loathe to do this and I do believe that where there’s life there’s hope and even the faintest glimmer holds the chance to be resurrected and reanimated into something worthwhile… and also when I decide finally that  something is dead… I like to be beyond doubt as I know it’s going in a lead lined coffin to be tossed into the bottom of the sea… and I won’t be opening it again… there will be no resurrection…

Very recently I decided to put end to a situation that had been going on for far too long… over a year ago I got the urge to walk away but gave things the benefit of the doubt and for a while. it seemed to gain new life and potential and then alarms bells started ringing and in my heart of hearts I wanted to be mistaken but I knew things were wrong… things were beginning to stink… which I guess would suggest that realistically, things had been dead for quite sometime… and that I had been hoping against hope…

And that’s where the conflicted feelings and emotions came into play… until eventually my mind felt to be filled with Japanese Knotweed that strangled and constricted and sucked the life out of every other thought and idea that I had…

And I know that when things get to that point… there’s only one way to go…

You’ve got to rip those suckers out…

And resolve to keep them out…

After all…

Who needs Knotweed where Roses can grow…
